Robin Thomson has been a musician since he first picked up a nylon string guitar at the age of fifteen so as he could learn to play Led Zeppelin riffs.
In 1977, at the age of 24, Robin decided he really need to get a bit serious about his music and that he needed to learn to read the dots.
Although, not his original intention, he ended up studying the classical guitar to achieve this end.
In 1980, Robin successfully auditioned to study at the West Australian Conservatorium of Music at WAAPA culminating in a Diploma of Music Teaching in 1985.
This resulted in the commencement of a guitar based private teaching pathway accompanied by many opportunities to write music and perform both as a soloist and in a variety of ensemble combinations over many years.
However, in 2009, Robin cut off his carefully manicured right hand fingernails and in so doing eschwed the guitar in favour of mastering a new instrument, the piano.
The piano has provided Robin with a wonderful tool to broaden his musical horizons and elevate his compositional activities.
